Sandra Deacon Carr

Sandra Deacon Carr is a Master Lecturer in the Organizational Behavior Department at Boston University Questrom School of Business where she has been teaching courses in organizational behavior, leadership, management, career development, and team learning for more than 30 years. She serves as the Faculty Director of Boston University Hub Curricular Initiatives, which includes the BU Cross-College Challenge (XCC), the signature experience of the BU Hub. In this role she oversees the development, implementation, and assessment of the XCC and the new Hub Social and Racial Justice course offerings, drives faculty and student recruitment, and leads the development of strategic partnerships for XCC. Dr. Deacon Carr is also the Faculty Director of Questrom Team Learning Services, where she works with both faculty and students on a variety of team-related issues and recently led the development of the Questrom Team Learning website. She co-wrote The Team Learning Assistant with her colleagues, a web application designed to improve learning for faculty and students who use teams. In 2021 Dr. Deacon Carr became the Faculty Athletics Representative of Boston University and the NCAA.

In 2019 she was awarded the James Freeman Leadership Development Award. In addition, she received the Broderick Award for Outstanding Faculty Contribution to the Undergraduate Program and Community in 2017, the inaugural Broderick Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning and Experience in 2014, and was named an Outstanding Reviewer for the Journal of Management Education for 2020. Dr. Deacon Carr specializes in curriculum design and innovation, and has extensive coaching, counseling, and team mediation experience. She earned her Ph.D. at Northeastern University and is a licensed psychologist in the state of Massachusetts. She received her M.Ed. from Boston University and B.A. from Amherst College.
