Biography
Sarah Williams Goldhagen, a former Harvard professor, is an award-winning writer and lecturer on architecture and landscapes, cities and urban design, infrastructure and public art -- all the things that constitute the built environment. She is the author of the pathbreaking Welcome to Your World: How the Built Environment Shapes Our Lives (HarperCollins, 2017), which draws from current research in cognitive neuroscience and environmental psychology to establish a new framework for architectural and urban design, better suited to the needs of human experience. Goldhagen is a contributing editor at Art in America and Architectural Record; for many years, she was the New Republic’s architecture critic for many years, and taught for a decade at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Goldhagen is a sought-after lecturer and keynote speaker, including at the national convention of the American Institute of Architects. Her writings have been translated into Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Korean.
