Shruti Tewari

Dr. Shruti Tewari holds a D. Phil degree in Psychology from University of Allahabad. Her doctoral research identified the mechanisms through which people with physical disabilities circumvent, avoid and surmount the obstacles in the course of their daily lives and achieve their life goals. She investigated process of coping with physical disability within the multivariate transactional model of stress. She joined AMITY Institute of Behavioural & Allied Sciences (AIBAS) at AMITY University, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow campus as Lecturer in Psychology.

In 2010, she took up post-doctoral fellowship (as Research Director) in an Indo-British Collaborative Project on Social Identity and Collective Participation at Magh Mela funded by Economic & Social Research Council, UK with Prof. Nicholas Hopkins & Prof. Steve Reicher. This project was hosted by Department of Psychology, Dundee University, Scotland, UK and Centre of Behavioural & Cognitive Sciences (CBCS), University of Allahabad in collaboration with St. Andrews University, Exeter University and Queens University, UK. The project studied social psychological processes underlying the effect of collective participation on health, well-being and positive experience.

She continued her post-doctoral fellowship with Prof. Narayanan Srinivasan at CBCS and studied how social factors affect basic cognitive processes such as time perception and attention.

Her research employs mixed-methods, combining qualitative methodologies with survey and experimental methodologies. She also has expertise in multivariate analysis. She has couple of international and national research collaborations broadly based on religion, social categorization and well-being. She has published in various international journals and edited books.
