Presentation

Signe Vikkelsø’s research focuses on organization theory, organizational analysis and the organizing effects of tools and techniques. Drawing upon cases from healthcare, psychoanalysis, and industrial production she has published in organizations studies, sociology of science and technology, psychology and CSCW. Her most recent book, ”For Formal Organization: The past in the Present and Future of organization theory” (with Paul du Gay, Oxford University Press) addresses the role of organization theory in practical organization and management. Among other things it argues that classic concepts and concerns such as ‘purpose’ and ‘task’ are not dated and irrelevant, but at the core of contemporary organizing efforts. At CBS she is heading the Department of Organization. Her current research project focuses upon the consequences of the partnership idea in research funding and innovation programs (with Julie Sommerlund, UCPH).
