Graduated from Bournemouth University in 2011 with BSc Software Engineering Management degree have subsequently worked in a number of technical roles including Software Developer, Web Application Developer, Software Tester, Junior Business Analyst and Technical Lead/Project Manager.
Halcrow Group Ltd
My role whilst working for this company was to deliver work on time and to budget whilst keeping the Development Manager and Project Managers up-to-date on assigned tasks. My core duties within this role were to develop C# ASP.NET Web Applications with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, development of T-SQL Stored Procedures using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and website development in XHTML as well a general administrative tasks, writing of requirements documents and testing applications developed by the team.
Supported the CES Application as an Administrator, this involved maintaining the project bids held within the application by adding appropriate images, formatting of text to correct standards, publishing bids, liaising with the project managers and directors involved in those bids, dealing with application issues when they arose or if I was made aware by individuals involved in the particular project. Application based online developed in C# ASP.NET running on SQL Server 2005.
EMIS
Design, development, testing and documentation of software components, both server-side and user interface components, work on and prepare automated Unit Test suites plus functional and non-functional testing.
Use of Agile methodology throughout the development process.
Development of SQL scripts and use web development technologies including ASP.NET 4.0 and MVC 3.0.
SDesign1
working as a Web Developer on a project using Umbraco 5, developing using technologies including C#, ASP.NET 4, MVC3 and SQL Server 2008.
I was also responsible for ensuring that the project was being delivered, this was done through liaising with the client, partner agencies and managing the other two developers through the use of Skype and regular emails.
During my time within this role I was also in regular contact with the Lead Architect of the Umbraco CMS, the discussion I had with him were around issues with the CMS and potentials way these issues could be rectified.
Manchester Business School (MBS)
Working with the latest technologies my main role was to develop applications for Manchester Business School, some of the technologies and software packages I worked with included MVC3, MVC4, SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012, Visual Studio 2010, Team Foundation Server, ASP.NET 4.0 and ODP.NET.
trialed an Agile development process for a number of projects mainly using MVC3/MVC4 (using MSF for Agile and Scrum).
Within the role I was also expected to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques to improve my skills, through research (use of blogs, development websites and forums) and practical development projects using new technologies found through research conducted.
National Drug Evidence Centre (NDEC)
Working within the National Drug Evidence Centre (NDEC) part of the Centre for Epidemiology within the Institute of Population Health at the University of Manchester.
At NDEC my main role is the support and development of the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) web application sponsored by Public Health England (PHE) and the ViewIt statistical analysis tool.
As well as working with NDTMS and ViewIt I am also involved in the development of applications for other centres within the institute and advising the senior members of the team on which technologies, techniques and software the team should be pursuing in terms of the direction of the department and the development project we are currently undertaking.
