Dr. Sheng Songcheng is Adjunct Professor of Economics and Finance at CEIBS, Executive Deputy Director of CLIIF. He has been granted Special Government Allowances of the State Council since 1999. He is right now the Counselor to People’s Bank of China. Prior to joining CEIBS, he has served a wide range of positions within the central bank, for instance, Director General of the Financial Survey and Statistics Department at the People’s Bank of China (PBoC), President of People’s Bank of China in Shenyang branch, etc..

Dr. Sheng Songcheng’s research interests mainly include Monetary Economics, Monetary Theory and Policy, and Macroeconomic Analysis. He made outstanding contribution in the research of aggregate financing to the real economy, capital account opening-up, interest rate liberalization, as well as financial transformation and development. Dr. Sheng is the author of several hot-sale books and he has published nearly one hundred of papers in the leading field journals including Social Sciences in China, Economic Research Journal, Journal of Financial Research and China Finance. His views aroused hot discussion and positive feedback both home and abroad that interest rate liberalization, exchange rate regime reform and capital account opening-up should be implemented coordinately. In addition, the Aggregate Finance to the Real Economy (AFRE) has become one of the key indicators of the financial macro-regulation of China. As the main author, the book Modern Monetary Economics is the very first book of China which systematically described the western monetary economic theory. He is also the chief editor of The Theory and Practice of the Aggregate Financing of the Real Economy, which is the first book of our country that mentioned about the aggregate financing to the economy. The newly-published books Central Bank and the Money Supply and Coordinative Promotion of Financial Reform also received high praise and are widely welcomed by scholars and the general public.

Dr. Sheng Songcheng was granted the second prize of Scientific Research Award for young scholars by Henry Fok Educational Foundation in 1993 (first prize vacancy), and won the Excellent Text Book Award among all finance teaching materials of colleges and universities, the first “Golden Morning” excellent research award of The Chinese Financial Education Development Foundation, the first outstanding scientific research award granted by State Education Commission, “Golden Sheep” Award for financial books in 2013 and the first prize of excellent research achievement awarded by China Financial Education Development Foundation.
