SDA Bocconi School of Management

Stefano Pogutz is Professor of Practice of Corporate Sustainability at SDA Bocconi where he is the Director of the full-time MBA program.

He has conducted numerous research and education projects with Enel, One Ocean Foundation, Edison, Shell, Ferrero, and many others. His research activities focus on corporate sustainability, environmental management, corporate social responsibility, ESG and socially responsible investing, technology and innovation management. His current research addresses three main questions. The first is the development of sustainable and circular business models. The second focuses on the sustainability of the ocean and the blue economy. The third is aimed at investigating the interdependence between social-ecological systems and business strategies. His research has been published in books and international peer-reviewed journals including Ecological Economics, Organization & Environment, Business Strategy and the Environment, the Journal of Business Ethics, Waste Management. Stefano has won numerous teaching awards at Università Bocconi, including the 2017 Innovation for Teaching Award, and in 2019 he won the CEMS Outstanding Contribution to the CEMS MIM Award for the course "Model UNFCCC Climate Change Strategies Role Play".

Stefano is an Associate Editor of Organization & Environment and serves as a reviewer for several international journals. Stefano serves on the Board of Directors and Advisory Boards of various companies in Italy and abroad. Since 2018 he has been head of the Scientific Committee of the One Ocean Foundation.

Stefano earned a degree in Business Administration from Università Bocconi and a PhD in International Management – Innovation, Services and Sustainability, from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa. He is married with two children.
