Background
Stephanie Lewis teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Federal taxation at Fisher. She currently serves as the Undergraduate Accounting Coordinator for the Accounting & MIS department. In this role, she assists students with courserelated issues and provides guidance on CPA exam eligibility and preparation. Stephanie also leads the department’s Accounting Awareness Board, working closely with the Ohio Society of CPAs and recruiters on promoting the accounting profession and employment opportunities among Fisher students. Before joining The Ohio State University in July 2009, she worked for one of Ohio’s largest independent business consulting and public accounting firms, serving clients in a variety of industries. During her career in public accounting, Stephanie performed tax compliance and research work in the areas of individual, partnership, corporate and exempt organization tax. She was also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and was involved with business valuations for estate, gift and income tax reporting purposes.
Stephanie is also the Director of the Fisher/OSU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, a program in which accounting students volunteer annually to provide free tax preparation services for lowtomoderate income taxpayers in Franklin county. She also serves as the advisor to Ohio State teams in several case competitions, including the Deloitte FanTAXtic Student Case Competition. In this prestigious competition, Fisher’s team has placed first in the region in each of the past three years (20142016) and placed third in the nation in 2014.
In addition to her work at Fisher, Stephanie works with a textbook publishing company verifying textbook and tax return problem solutions. She holds an active CPA license and provides tax preparation and consulting services to individual, small business, and notforprofit clients.
Stephanie is a currently a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

ACCTMIS 3400 Tax Accounting I
Fundamentals of the federal income tax, and how it influences taxpayer decisions. Emphasis is on the individuals and businesses organized as proprietorships, but rules generally applicable to all taxpayers are covered. Prereq: A grade of B or above in 2300H, or 3200 and BusMHR 2292.
ACCTMIS 4784 Tax Research Seminar
Case studies requiring an indepth examination of the tax aspects of situations frequently encountered by businesses and individuals. Prereq: A grade of B+ or above in 3400, or permission of instructor.
ACCTMIS 7400 Tax Planning for Managerial Decision Making
Examination of the impact of taxes on several important business decisions; recognition of tax problems and planning opportunities. Prereq: MBA 6211 (800), or enrollment in Master of Accounting Program, or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 826.
ACCTMIS 7784 Tax Research
Case studies requiring an indepth examination of the tax aspects of situations frequently encountered by businesses and individuals. Prereq: 7410, or enrollment in MAcc program. Not open to students with credit for 856.
ACCTMIS 4410 Tax Accounting II
Intensive study of the federal income tax treatment of business corporations and partnerships, with particular attention to tax planning by these businesses and their owners. Prereq: 3400 (626) and BusMHR 2292 (BusAdm 499.01). Not open to students with credit for 636.
ACCTMIS 3400H Tax Accounting I
Fundamentals of the federal income tax, and how it influences taxpayer decisions. Emphasis is on individuals and businesses organized as proprietorships, but rules generally applicable to all taxpayers are covered. Prereq: Honors standing, and a grade of B or above in 2300H.
ACCTMIS 4510 Fraud Examination
The course will cover all major methods employees use to commit occupational fraud involving the misappropriation of assets. Prereq: 3201 and 3600, or permission of instructor.
