Professor Nelson’s work includes a book, God and the Land: the Metaphysics of Farming in Hesiod and Vergil published by Oxford University Press, and articles which range from a study of Homer and James Joyce to a treatment of T. E. Lawrence’s translation of the Odyssey. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classical Studies, Director of the CAS Core Curriculum, and Assistant Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences. She spends her summers on a farm milking cows in Ireland.
