Biography
Carlson School of Management
Stuart Albert spent two decades studying the impact of timing decisions on major projects in business and government and developed a method that allows leaders to better anticipate oncoming risks, identify windows of opportunity, and improve the likelihood of delivering superior results. Stuart has worked with both small and medium size companies as well as large multinationals to help them apply timing to such issues as whether or not to enter or exit a given market, invest in a new technology, make an acquisition, take price in a competitive market, or launch a new product. His expertise enables leaders to determine when to act- or not, and how quickly or slowly to proceed to maximize the likelihood of success.
Stuart is highly published in the subject if timing. He most recently authored When: The Art of Perfect Timing (Jossey Bass, Sept. 2013). Amazon named When "One of the Best New Business Books" the month of it's release.
Stuart is an Associate Professor in the Department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, and is a frequent visiting scholar at Harvard and MIT. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the International Society for the Study of Time, the premier organization in the world for the interdisciplinary study of time. He has published in top academic and applied journals in management and has presented his work on timing at universities and executive workshops in the United States, as well as conferences and seminars in Paris, Stockholm, and São Paulo.
He and his wife divide their time between Cambridge, MA, Minneapolis, MN, and São Paulo, Brazil.
