## Overview

Dr. Mutha is director of Healthforce Center and professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. At Healthforce Center, Dr. Mutha leads the organization’s efforts to integrate experiential leadership training with workforce research, to ensure more effective health care delivery. She has over a decade of experience working on leadership development programs for health professionals.

Dr. Mutha is a nationally recognized expert in health workforce training and cultural competence curriculum development. Her scholarly work has focused on approaches to improving care with an emphasis on the intersection between quality improvement and health care disparities. She has served on multiple panels and boards including the Joint Commission’s Expert Advisory Panel guiding the development of hospital standards for culturally competent patient-centered care; the National Quality Forum’s Cultural Competence Steering Committee; and the board of directors for Brown and Toland Medical Group, a comprehensive, multi-specialty independent practice association. She graduated from Albany Medical College and completed her residency and chief residency at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. She also completed a fellowship in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Stanford University.
