Tai-Young Kim

Tai-Young Kim is Professor of Graduate School of Business (SKK GSB) at Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, Korea. His main teaching and research areas are corporate strategy, organization design, and CSV (creating shared value). Before he joined the SKK GSB, he had been Assistant Professor of Management of Organizations at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKSUT), 2000-2004. He was a visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management in 2005, INSEAD in France, for 2017-2018, and Waseda University in Japan in 2018.

His teaching and research areas have been influenced by his academic committee members at Stanford University, Michael Hannan (Stanford Graduate School of Business, Advisor), Ezra Zuckerman (MIT Sloan School), and Mark Granovetter (Stanford University, Sociology). He published articles at top-ranked journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Journal of Economic Geography, and Industrial and Corporate Change. He received the Best Researcher Award from Korea Academy of Management in 2006 and the Best Teaching Award in the Indiana Kelley-SKK EMBA program in 2010.

He lectured and consulted for major Korean companies on ‘Corporate Strategy’ and ‘Organization Design’ as well as ‘Creating Shared Value’ (CSV) that integrates social value and economic value as business strategy. He recently published a book, ‘Next Champion’ (2019) on CSV.
