Biography

-

Dr. Talaya Waller (M.B.A., D.B.A) is an international personal branding consultant and adjunct professor at Duke University. In 2014, she founded a personal branding consultancy because she believed there should be a data-driven way to manage people’s brand equity. Scaling human value is a universal motivator for everyone she works with, and for this reason, she founded Valuables, a software as a service platform that allows companies to unlock the brand power of their most influential talent.

From students to start-up entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 executives, she’s had the privilege to work with a diverse range of people to develop personal brands that have a real impact on society. From the NBA to Google to Amazon, her clients, in particular, are looking to find meaning and a purpose in their work that aligns with who they are.

Currently, she is a faculty member at Duke University in the Corporate Education program. Previously, Dr. Waller taught Personal Branding as an adjunct MBA professor at Saint Peter’s University and as a guest MBA professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. She also has delivered personal branding lectures to MBA students in the United States, Poland, Australia, Switzerland, Chile, South Korea, and South Africa.

In 2020, she published the first-to-market textbook Personal Brand Management, Marketing Human Value, which is housed in over 160 university libraries, including Yale, Oxford, and MIT.

In addition to her teaching experience and academic research, she has delivered personal branding workshops for several organizations including the Federal Reserve Board, House Democratic Caucus, and the Chicago Association of Realtors. Notably, in 2018, she was invited to present a TEDx titled “The Future of Branding is Personal”. Over 24,888 students participated in her Canva personal branding course last year, her informative LinkedIn account has 15,799 followers, and over 28,000 people follow her on Instagram. In addition, she's a contributor to Entrepreneur and Refinery29, and she has been featured in publications such as Forbes, Fast Company, Business Insider, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
