Biography
Dr Tan Wah Pheow heads the Centre for Applied Behavioural & Social Sciences at Temasek Polytechnic, and is also the lead researcher for the Behavioural Insights Collaboratory at Temasek Polytechnic, both of which he was instrumental in setting up. He is trained as a cognitive psychologist, obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Sciences (Psychology) from the National University of Singapore, and his Ph.D. in Psychology (Statistics minor) from Iowa State University. His area of expertise includes judgment and decision making, behavioural insights, human factors, and learning sciences.
Wah Pheow has extensive experience in providing evidence-based solutions to real world problems through conducting applied behavioural sciences projects with the industry. Since 2016, he has supervised or served as a consultant to numerous BI projects conducted within Temasek Polytechnic, or with external partners. Wah Pheow is also an experienced educator and received teaching awards in recognition of his teaching excellence and contributions. Since 2018, Wah Pheow has also conducted numerous courses on Behavioural Insights for professionals from various industry sectors. In his free time, Wah Pheow plays basketball, engages in street photography and reading.
