Terry Hemeyer

Terry Hemeyer is on the faculty of Rice University’s Jones School MBA Program teaching crisis management and business public relations. He also teaches communication management and strategies at the University of Texas @ Austin and serves as executive counsel to Pierpont Communications.

Hemeyer has handled numerous high profile personal and business crisis situations. His experience includes assisting two U.S. Presidents, Fortune 500 CEOs, education institution heads, department of defense executives, as well as national sports and entertainment figures. Business topics handled included accidents, litigation, sabotage, labor, discrimination, financial reporting, bankruptcy, environmental, SOX, corporate compliance and criminal issues. For six years, Hemeyer also headed the health, environmental and safety function for a major energy company.

In conjunction with his crisis skills he has advised various media organizations and help effect factual exposure on behalf of his clients. He has appeared on the NBC Tonight Show, Today Show and CBS 60-minutes. Hemeyer has been interviewed by the New York Times, CNN, Fox News, USA Today, Washington Post, Business Week and the Wall Street Journal.

During his career he has been in senior management (c-suite) for a Fortune 150 energy company and the chief communications officer for an international consumer services company. He served in the United State Air Force, was selected for the rank of colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star while in Vietnam.

Hemeyer’s education includes the Stanford University graduate business school executive program, the Harvard University case study program, an M.A. in communication from the University of Denver and a B.S. in education from The Ohio State University.
