FAU School of Business and Economics
After his vocational training at Siemens AG, Thomas M. Fischer (born in 1961) studied business administration and social sciences at Augsburg University, where he subsequently worked as a research associate and later a research fellow (DFG habilitation scholarship). Professor Fischer was Chair of Financial Accounting and Managerial Reporting at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) from 1997 to 2002 before becoming Chair of Auditing and Management Accounting at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in 2003. Among the places he has spent teaching and research periods is the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, USA, in 2001. From 2002 to 2005, he led the research group ‘Operating and Financial Review’ at the German Standardization Council for Accounting.
In 2006, he accepted the position of Chair for Accounting and Management Control at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Professor Fischer has been head of the Shared Services working group at Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V since 2011.
Professor Fischer´s research focuses on performance management, shared services, and transformation of business models.
