Tim Smits van Oyen

I have been active in social enterprises my entire career, with a focus on circular economy and green tech. I am the founder of Oko Energy and I am responsible for all West African activities of JS Cocoa.

My roots are Dutch and I have traveled, lived, and worked all over the globe. Currently, I reside in Kumasi, Ghana. Traveling allowed me to experience so much beauty in biodiversity, people, nature, and culture. This has significantly added to my drive to have a positive impact on the world. I believe what you decide to do with your workweek is the biggest decision when it comes to your own impact.

Adding to a balanced world that has more room for nature and is more equitable for its people is my main driver and I am happy I have been part of the THNK: Lead With Courage program. The journey this program has set me on motivated me to continue my road to positive impact and to sharpen my vision.
