Villanova University

Tom Way is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Villanova University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Delaware in the area of compiler optimization for high-performance computing. His M.S. research, also done at Delaware, led to the development of a system for automatically converting images into tactile graphics to provide blind people with access to visual information. Dr. Way's research interests expand beyond compiler optimization into such diverse areas as distributed and parallel computing, human-computer interaction, nanotechnology and nanocomputers, and the convergence of the technology and entertainment industries, a field currently dubbed "Entertainment Technology."

Prior to pursuing his graduate studies, Dr. Way worked in the television and film industry in Hollywood for 10 years. His professional endeavors now include a position on the board of directors for a software and Internet services company, freelance software engineering and web site consulting, and Director of Research of the successful science satire web site DHMO.org. He is an accomplished professional magician, writer, actor, filmmaker and marathon runner.
