Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education
Fellow in Economics
Professional experience Tony has wide experience of executive education, having designed, directed and contributed to an extensive range of tailored and open programmes. His principal clients include Halifax Bank of Scotland, HM Customs and Revenue, HSBC, Kodak, and the former UK Department for Education and Skills. He was Director of Executive Education at Manchester Business School from 1987 to 1994.
Consultancy clients include BP, Corus (now part of Tata Steel), the European Commission Directorate for Labour Markets; and ONE NorthEast (the Regional Development Agency for the North East of England). He was for 12 years Economic Adviser to House of Commons Select Committees on Nationalised Industries and Trade and Industry.
Tony's current research on globalisation and manufacturing is funded by the Leverhulme Trust. He has responsibility for the metals and metal goods sector of Cambridge Econometrics' multi-sector dynamic forecasting model for the British economy, the output of which is published regularly at half-yearly intervals.
Previous appointments Prior to joining the University of Cambridge, Tony was Deputy Director of Manchester Business School and Director of Durham Business School.
Research interests Sector analysis (in particular financial services, manufacturing and public services), and macroeconomic forecasting, with a focus on the European Union and the USA.
