Biography

Dr. Usha Kotelawala is the director at Developing a Mathematical Toolkit. She served as the Director of Mathematics Education at CUNY’s K-16 Initiatives where she authored the New York State Transition Course for Mathematics and developed the LINCT professional development program with a critical strand focusing on non-routine problem solving and she led week-long course sequences for Algebra for All. At Fordham University as a professor in mathematics education, she taught courses for elementary and secondary teachers and doctoral candidates. Her research focused on applied mathematics, proving, and Lesson Study for professional growth. Currently, she co-leads a project on Virus Mathematics and provides professional development and coaching for middle and high schools.
