Vlad Griskevicius serves as the Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Program at the Carlson School and is the Carlson Family Foundation Chaired Professor of Marketing. He believes that education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. As Associate Dean, he aspires to light the fires of more than 3000 students through a truly transformative educational experience that enables every student to become their best self.

Vlad teaches classes on the Power of Story, Persuasion & Influence, and Designing Your Life – a first-year class about examining values and discovering strengths. With an extensive background in the science of motivation, emotion and social influence, he has published over 100 scholarly works and is co-author of The Rational Animal – a book about how our deep-seated ancestral motivations shape modern behavior.

Vlad previously served as Chair of the Marketing Department and as Associate Editor of the Journal of Marketing Research. He has received numerous awards for his teaching, research, and service, including the Outstanding Teacher Award and Outstanding Service Award at the Carlson School, Best Article Award from the Journal of Consumer Research, and multiple Mid-Career and Early Career Awards for Distinguished Scientific Contribution. His life goal is to raise his four kids – and all the students he encounters – to be good human beings who never stop learning because life never stops teaching.
