Wei Zhao

Wei Zhao has been an associate professor at ESSCA since 2014. He is also a visiting researcher at the Research Institute for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta (China) and an associate researcher at the Centre d’économie de l’Université Paris Nord (CEPN).

He holds a Master’s degree in sociology from Sun Yat-Sen University and a PhD in economics from Paris 3 University.

From 2007 to 2014, he was a scholar at the Saint-Etienne business school. Before working in France, he was a market seeker working with an international company in Canton, China. He was also marketing director of a Hong Kong real estate company, and director of public affairs with Carrefour in South China.

Since 2011, he has conducted empirical research on China’s industrial modernization and innovation policy with the think tank established jointly by the Guangdong Provincial Government and Sun Yat-Sen University.
