Biography

Currently I am an AI & Education Technology Officer working on Adaptive Learning Systems and AI Ethics in Education in Education Technology Division, Ministry of Education.

I was a lecturer of Further & H2, H3 Mathematics and also led Robotics and Computing Club in Eunoia Junior college, in the following domains:

  • Conceptualised 3 specialisation tracks to prepare the Robotics and Computing Club members for the 4th Industry revolution: (1) Data Science/Artificial Intelligence, (2) Internet of Things/Robotics, (3) Web & Mobile App development.

  • Spearheaded the Eunoia AI/Machine Learning Track, using Datacamp designed and conducted a series of data visualisation (Orange, Tableau) and machine learning sessions (in Python & R).

  • Supervised Tableau data visualisation and analytics projects for the 2017 & 2018 IMDA-Tableau competitions: ‘People’s Choice Award’ in 2017 & 1 team emerged with 1st prize in 2018.

  • Partnership with AISG in AI4S (AI for Students) to propagate learning of AI & Machine Learning via Python and R programming among students via Datacamp within the entire college: https://aisingapore.org/2020/12/ejcs-collaboration-with-ai4s-to-educate-our-youths-in-ai/

  • Piloted a college-wide 11-week student Talent development module entitled “Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and the Future of Humanity”, see detailed programme/slides at https://tinyurl.com/EJC-Altitude-2019

I was an City Ambassador for AI Saturdays (Singapore), where I conducted Saturday seminars/discussion sessions to the public on the Coursera deep.learning.ai material.

I also served as an Associate Faculty Member/ Course Developer at Mathematics Programme at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Besides lecturing to 1st year SUSS undergraduates and part-time adult learners on Calculus and Statistics, I have developed Python coding activities for 8 SUSS Mathematics courses to infuse data-science related elements within the curriculum.

Prior to reverting to the education sector, I used to work at the Sensors Division of DSO National Laboratories as a signal processing researcher, where I utilized deep neural networks to perform enhancement on military signals and also classified signals and speech using machine learning techniques. As such, my current research interests have now broadened to connect sparse coding with data sciences, machine learning, deep neural networks.
