Weiyi's main stream of research examines the careers of high potential entrepreneurs in the technology sector through the lens of computational sociology. His research has received awards such as the Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship and Wharton People Analytics Research Paper Competition, and has been featured in media outlets like the New York Times. He holds a PhD. and MS. in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley, and two A.B., summa cum laude, in both Physics, and History Philosophy and Social Studies of Science and Medicine (HIPS) from the University of Chicago.
At NUS, Weiyi teaches New Venture Creation (BSN3702/TR3002) and Venture Capital (BMA5128/BMS5113). He is also an active consultant for the participants in the annual Global Venture Capital and Investment Competition (VCIC) and is part of the research team at the Institute for Application of Learning Science and Educational Technology (ALSET).
Weiyi is also a member of the incubator and talent investor Entrepreneur First's inaugural Amplifier Network, a committee of advisors. Prior to NUS, he worked in the defense industry as a computational physicist and has held consulting positions for Elance (now UpWork) and Bloomberg Beta.
