Dr. Wen Liu joined the group of Energy & Resources at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development in Utrecht University as a senior researcher in March 2015. She holds a bachelor in Environmental Engineering, a master in Environmental Science and a PhD in the field of energy planning.
Dr. Liu current research focuses are the geo-resources technologies for the heat purposes. Examples are geothermal energy and thermal energy storage for the built environment. Her research aims to develop methodologies and tools which allow an integrated assessment of multiple geo-resources exploitation and utilization in the context of sustainable energy transition. Dr. Liu is the coordinator of the master course Energy in the Context of Sustainability in the Master Program Energy Science. She is Assistant Editor of the international Journal Energy (Elsevier).
