Biography

Smith School of Business

William Leiss is a Fellow and Past-President (1999-2001) of the Royal Society of Canada. He has been working and consulting in the risk studies field for more than twenty years. From 1999 to 2004 he held the NSERC/SSHRC Research Chair in Risk Communication and Public Policy in the Haskayne School of Business. From 1994 to 1999 he held the Eco-Research Chair in Environmental Policy at Queen’s University. Dr. Leiss is author, collaborator or editor for eleven books and numerous articles and reports, and his newest book is In the Chamber of Risks: Understanding Risk Controversies. He was named an Officer in the Order of Canada in 2004.
