Kenan-Flagler Business School
Investment banking, investment management, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurship are among the areas of expertise of Bill Moore. He teaches investment banking.
Professor Moore is chairman of Lookout Capital, a private equity firm; chairman of the board of RTI International, one of the world’s leading research institutes; and a partner at Franklin Street Partners, an investment management company.
He founded Trident Financial Corp., a boutique investment bank that specialized in serving financial institutions throughout the United States, in 1975, and served as its CEO until its sale to KeyCorp in 1999.
Professor Moore serves as an emeritus trustee of the National Humanities Center; on UNC Kenan-Flagler''s Board of Visitors; and as a director of Vietri, Inc. He is former chairman of the board and CEO of the MCNC Research & Development Institute and was the initial chair of the advisory boards of the UNC-Chapel Hill Programs in the Humanities, UNC Press and the North Carolina Humanities Council.
He serves on the investment committee of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation and as an Academy Athletic & Scholarship Foundation Trustee. He is past chairman of the Weaver Foundation Investment Committee and UNC’s Educational Foundation and past president of the Kenan-Flagler Business School Foundation.
