Biography

William Sander is a professor emeritus in the Department of Economics at the Driehaus College of Business. Before taking emeritus status in 2019, Sander served as a professor of economics. Currently, Sander is an economic consultant for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

His research interests include urban economic development and education economics. His work has been published in t​​he Journal of Law and Economics, the Journal of Urban Economics, the Journal of Labor Economics, Annals of Regional Science and Papers in Regional Science.

Sander was the recipient of a Rockefeller Foundation postdoctoral fellowship in the Philippines. He has also taught at the University of the Philippines and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Sander began teaching at DePaul in 1980, where he taught courses on the economics of low-income countries, urban economics, and introduction to economic issues.
