Biography

Xavier Martin is Professor of Strategy, International Business and Innovation at Tilburg University (The Netherlands).

His research examines how corporate strategies, interfirm relationships, and knowledge-based assets affect each other and jointly affect firm performance. His papers have appeared in Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, Journal of International Business Studies and Research Policy among others. Several figure in the Science Watch (Web of Science) top 1% by citations in the field of Economics and Business. Selected publications are listed below.

He is a recipient of several research awards, which are listed below. He also earned Teacher of the Year (undergraduate) and Best Course of the Year awards from NYU and Tilburg University.

He serves on the editorial boards of Strategic Management Journal and several other journals, and was formerly a Guest Editor for the Journal of International Business Studies. He is currently an Editor for the Strategic Management Review and Foundations and Trends in Management.

He is Past Chair of the Strategic Management Division (STR, previously BPS) of the Academy of Management. He previously held elected positions as board member of the Strategic Management Society and as Chair of its Competitive Strategy Interest, and on executive and research committees of two Academy of Management divisions (BPS and TIM).

Among the industries he researches are cultural industries (computer games, movies, advertising), high-tech (semiconductors, imaging, medical equipment), and automotive - all global industries which allow cutting-edge insight into interfirm relations and performance.
