Biography
Professor Yair Berson joined New York University Stern School of Business as a Visiting Associate Professor in September 2015. Professor Berson also holds a position at the Department of Psychology at Bar-Ilan University, Israel.
Prior to joining NYU Stern, Professor Berson served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Haifa and as an Assistant Professor of Management at Polytechnic University (currently NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering). In addition, he was a Visiting Professor at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Professor Berson's research helps demonstrate the effects of organizational leadership, in particular, visionary leadership, on multiple organizational phenomena including organizational learning, innovation and change. Specifically, he has conducted research on the content of leaders' vision and the extent to which visionary leaders influence groups. In other works, he has examined implications of individual differences in personality and values for employee and organizational outcomes.
Professor Berson's work has been published in such journals as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Organizational Behavior and The Leadership Quarterly. He is a coauthor of The Dream Weavers: Strategy Focused Leadership in Technology - Driven Organizations (April 2004). Professor Berson's work has also been featured in publications such as Forbes, Financial Times, Psychology Today and Israel's business magazines Globes and The Marker.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Berson has conducted numerous leadership workshops with such organizations as Intel and the United Nations.
Professor Berson received his Ph.D. in Business Management from the Center for Leadership Studies at SUNY Binghamton. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology and an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Haifa in Israel.
