Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy
Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics and Applied Probability National University of Singapore Yap Von Bing has two degrees from NUS: B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics (1996) and an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics (1997, supervised by Dr Goh Say Song). He got a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California in 2002. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, he joined the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability in 2004. His main interest is applied statistics: the interface between statistical theory and science, especially on molecular evolution, comparative genomics and ecology. He enjoys talking about mathematics, statistics and science with anyone age 8 to 88.
