Bess’s research focuses on the the neural and psychosocial mechanism of social cognition, antisocial behavior, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. In recent years, she has extended her research work to the neural, motor and social functions in broader autism phenotype and traumatic brain injury. She has been engaged in inter-disciplinary research studies in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Australia and the United States. * In Mainland China, she has been working with scholars from the Guangzhou University and the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University on research projects related to mental health and neuropsychology. * In Australia, she has been working with scholars from the Griffith University on a project related to autism. * In the United States, she has continuous collaboration with scholars from the City University of New York, Duke University and University of Pennsylvania on projects related to the neuroscience of antisocial behaviors, psychopathy and decision making. * In Hong Kong, she has been working with scholars from the City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Shue Yan University, the Education University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong on projects related to mental health, aggression and positive neuroscience.
