Dr. McCants is a doctorate level licensed mental health counselor with concentrations in leadership, trauma, counselor education & clinical supervision, and social justice policy development. Dr. McCants is a certified trauma informed specialist and trainer, and utilizes therapeutic modalities such as MBCT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, restorative breathwork, and trauma conscious yoga approaches. She is licensed in NY, NJ, and PA. She is an advocate for under-served populations, LGBTQIA population, and women’s rights. Dr. McCants is an Assistant Professor and the Program Director of Mental Health Counseling Program at Long Island University -Brooklyn campus. She also teaches as an adjunct professor at Touro College.

Dr. McCants operates a group practice, Right to Heal, LLC in Northern NJ. In her practice she applies her skill set to work with individuals and couples, blending mental health care with breathwork, use of the physical body, and healthy living habits. Dr. McCants empowers her clients to increase motivation, resilience, and healing from trauma. In addition, Dr. McCants provides consultation services to non-profit organizations that are seeking to integrate wellness and behavioral health practices into their work, as well assist in creating program evaluations and SMART goals for reviewers.

Dr. McCants has been a keynote speaker, trainer and consultant for organizations and events in NY, NJ, and PA. She has developed wellness and trauma informed programs and provides CE trainings for other mental health clinicians. Dr. McCants currently serves as the President for The American Counseling Association- NY Chapter.
