Andreas Philipp Distel

Dr. Andreas Distel is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics at Copenhagen Business School and the Open Innovation in Science Center at Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft. He completed his PhD in Economics and Management at Copenhagen Business School and University of Mannheim. Before joining CBS, he held academic positions at the University of Mannheim and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) from LMU Munich.

Andreas’ research focuses on the drivers of strategic adaptation and collaborative innovation in an increasingly globally interconnected world, primarily using quantitative methods. His work is forthcoming in the Journal of Management and has been presented at leading international conferences of the Strategic Management Society (SMS) and the Academy of Management (AOM), including a nomination for the Best PhD Paper Award by the SMS at the Conference on Micro-Foundations for Strategic Management. Andreas’ current research questions include: How do firms develop capabilities to cope with increasingly dynamic and globalized environments? What are the antecedents, contingencies, and performance effects of open innovation in science? How do entrepreneurial human capital and its interaction with the internal organization and external environment affect the performance of MNC subsidiaries? What is the role of key organizational actors – top managers and core knowledge workers – for firm-level absorptive capacity and strategic adaptation?
