Christos Begkos

I am an Assistant Professor in Management Accounting. I completed my PhD studies at AMBS, hold an MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick, and a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, Greece). Before I joined the Accounting & Finance division, I was a Research Associate on the project “Patient Level Information and Costing Systems (PLICS): Current practice and future potential for the NHS health economy”, funded by the National Institute for Health Research.

My interdisciplinary research agenda focuses on the areas of performance measurement, digital technologies, strategy and healthcare. My research has been published in Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, Public Money & Management, among others. My ongoing work emphasizes digital transformation and technology diffusion in healthcare, digital transformation in Higher Education, the value of digital innovations with inherent uncertainties, and calculative practices in healthcare provision and organization studies.

I act as a reviewer for prestigious journals such as Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Accounting and Business Research, European Accounting Review, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, British Accounting Review, Financial Accountability & Management, and various academic conferences in my field. I am also an editorial board member of the Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management.

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teach on both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, on several courses in management accounting and research methods.
