Biography

Daniela Monteiro Gabbay has more than 15 years of experience handling litigation before Arbitral Tribunals, Courts and Administrative Bodies. She has been appointed as Mediator and Arbitrator in business disputes. Daniela handles domestic and international arbitrations based on several arbitration rules. Before founding Daniela Gabbay Law Firm, She worked in the arbitration and litigation teams of well-known Law Firms in Brazil. Se has also been building experience in dispute system design field. She combines a practical approach with academic scholarship.

She has a masters degree and a Phd in civil procedure law from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) and is Professor of Civil Procedure, Mediation and Arbitration at the São Paulo Law School of Fundação Getulio Vargas, teaching in the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs. She was also visiting scholar at Yale University and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is a CIArb fellow.

She has authored books on Mediation and the Courts in Brazil and the USA, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Civil Procedure, Repeated Litigation in Brazil, among others. She has also published numerous articles on mediation, arbitration and ADR. She has coordinated many empirical researches on these fields, some of them delivered to the Ministry of Justice and to the Brazilian National Council of Justice.

She is in the roster of Mediators and Arbitrators of several Arbitration and Mediation Chambers in Brazil. Fluent in Portuguese and English.
