Biography

Alliance Manchester Business School

Professor Medway first joined Manchester Metropolitan University in 1996 where he formed part of a team of academics looking at the emergent topic of town centre management—an area of research for which the University gained an outstanding reputation. He then re-joined in 2016, where his work continues to examine the complex interactions between places, spaces, and those who produce, manage and consume them. Dominic is a leading researcher in his field, a Senior Fellow of the Institute of Place Management and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He was Editor of the Q1-ranked Journal of Place Management and Development from 2015- 2020. Over his 25 year academic career he has published three edited books, numerous chapters and over 50 papers in leading journals, with a career income associated with his research activity amounting to over £300k from a variety of grant-awarding sources.

Dominic has a wealth of experience in business schools and prior to working at Manchester Metropolitan University he was Head of the Marketing, Operations Management and Service Systems (MOMS) Division at Alliance Manchester Business School and Chair of the School Board. He also has a long history of developing and delivering executive education for the commercial sector, with previous clients including: Sainsbury’s, Tesco, B&Q, Halfords, BP and Finansbank, along with public sector bodies such as the NHS and MoD. He has extensive experience of transnational education, delivering MBA teaching in Brazil, Singapore, Hong-Kong, China and the UAE.

Dominic played a critical role in Manchester Metropolitan University Business School’s successful EQUIS accreditation in 2019, helping to make it the first triple-accredited business school in a UK post-1992 University.
