Social responsibility
Public Engagement
My public engagement activities inform and are informed by my research in transnational cinemas. I am a founding member of the Chinese Film Forum UK, a research network based in Manchester, in collaboration with colleagues fromManchester Metropolitan University, the University of Salford, the Confucius Institute at the University of Manchester, the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Art and Cornerhouse. The Forum aims to broaden the research into and widen the audience for Chinese cinemas in Manchester, the Northwest, and the UK as a whole. It has done so by organising a number of activities including film screenings, festivals, talks and symposia. Between 2012 and 2014, it was a recipient of an AHRC Research Network grant.
