Biography
The University of Hong Kong (HKU)
François Drémeaux is a Research Engineer in Late Modern History at the University of Le Havre-Normandie. He is also Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and teaches at Sciences Po Paris (Le Havre campus). His current research interests include the social history of the Merchant Navy, health at sea and imperial networks. Recently, he published "La France et les Français à Hong Kong (1918-1941)" (PUR, 2022) and is the recipient of a European MSCA 2023-2026 research grant.
CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS
Currently, Dr. Drémeaux is working on a project focusing on the history of French nationals abroad, not only within the frame of colonial studies but also in a different perspective. Through different kind of presences, it raises the opportunity to explore architectural vestiges as well as different themes (religion, trade, diplomacy, etc.).
