Leonard N. Stern School of Business

Jeffrey A. Carr has been on the faculty of the New York University Stern School of Business for 23 years where he teaches marketing, competitive strategy and entrepreneurship in the MBA, EMBA and undergraduate programs. In 1998 he was selected for the Stern/Citibank Teacher of the Year Award, received the NYU Stern Teaching Excellence Award in 2011 and was named the Stern Faculty of the Year in 2012. From 2007-2012 Professor Carr was the Executive Director of the NYU Stern Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation which offers one-on- one mentoring and coaching to NYU student, alumni and faculty entrepreneurs through the Venture Mentor Network along with other services for the start-up community. He also served as the Director of the NYU Stern Fashion & Luxury Lab, the central hub of academic and co-curricular activities in the fashion and luxury space, building and growing connections between students, faculty and the fashion and luxury industries.

Possessing the genetic defect common to many entrepreneurs, Professor Carr has been self-employed since he was twenty-three. As a consultant, he has worked extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa and the U.S. for clients such as IBM, Pfizer, Kodak, McCann-Erickson, Pepsi, Time Inc. and many start-up and early stage ventures. For the past 17 years he has worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) in a United Nations sponsored program to help developing countries create more effective branding and implementation plans for their healthcare initiatives.
