Biography
Western Ontario University
I was once referred to as 'She Who Gets It Done' for my work, and I've been trying to ensure I live up to that honour ever since.
I've been a developer, managed both projects and teams, been both client side and dev side, worked freelance and in-house and agency. I've tried to get a taste of all aspects which has led to over 20 years experience playing at the intersection of education & the web. But at the heart of it, my two main passions are building systems and processes around users and their experience, and helping them learn more - through eLearning or other educational pathways.
For Continuing Studies @ Western I developed an online course on Web Strategy: Audience, Content and Usability, which provides basically an introduction/overview to many of the things I do - giving a first look at major strategies for focusing on your web content and how to make sure your message works with your technology to support a meaningful, interactive experience.
I have taught this course once a year now since 2012, trying to keep it updated & fresh both before & during each year's course, engaging a group of interesting and various students from various locations in actually thinking through the course materials not just in principal, but also practically - trying to get them to begin building something they can actually take away with them.
