Biography

Kellogg School of Management

Jim works with business leaders and teams to help them discover their values, stance, creativity and turn them into services, environments and products which are tangible and enduring.

The result builds equity in brands and unlocks authenticity, inventiveness, empathy, and courage in leaders, cultures and relationships.

For over thirty-five years Jim’s worked hand-in-hand with leaders and teams in major corporations and gutsy start-ups to develop new pathways for success and growth.

Working at the nexus of design, innovation and business problem solving, he’s impacted the success of new to the world initiatives for clients like Starbucks, Redbox (Outerwall), Lurie Children's Hospital Of Chicago, Sodexo, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Joyce Foundation, TeaBot, Primo Water, Embarc and many others.

“In the early 90's, after fifteen years as a leader of a major design firm, I had a rather audacious idea; use my skills in entirely new ways to reveal and leverage the “soul” of a business, the real stuff that makes them vibrant, different, vital.”

Beginning in the complex, demanding world of commercial architectural interior design, in the early 70’s, he lead teams charged with designing large-scale, human-centered headquarters for Fortune 100 corporations.

He is a master at bringing out the best, most inventive qualities in organizations and individuals; and using them to make a major impact on their businesses and lives.

He is a mentor to business leaders, designers and entrepreneurs and a frequent guest speaker and instructor at educational institutions and seminars including; The University of Chicago, The Kellogg School of Management, The Segal Design Institute, The Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, Healthy Workplaces Experts, Chicago Ideas, LaunchFest, MG Fest, The Chicago Convergence among others.
