Biography

Joseba Campos Capelastegui has been appointed by the President, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, the new director general of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. He succeeds José Andrés Gómez Cantero at position , who will go on to direct the Foundation for Applied Medical research . The appointment will take effect on 1 July.

Joseba Campos holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Basque Country, where he obtained the place de Senior Associate Professor de Universidad and worked at teaching and research for thirteen years (1982-1995). He also holds a PDD from IESE.

After spending time at Tecnun, the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra(Campus in San Sebastian), where he was Director from programs of study (1995-2004), he made the transition to management. He is visiting professor at campus of the IESE (2005) in Barcelona and visiting scholar at the School of Management of Boston University (2007) where he specialises in Career Development. Since then he has focused on the teaching of the Personnel Management Service, both in Tecnun -taking over as deputy director of academic staff of the School of Engineering (2012-14)- and in the rest of the University.

In 2014, she moved to Pamplona, where she has actively collaborated in the Governing Body of the University which has allowed him to get to know the academic, care and research centres of the different campus, among them the Cima and the Clínica. He has combined this dedication with the teaching of postgraduate program in the two campus of the University in Pamplona and Madrid.

For his part, José Andrés Gómez Cantero takes over the management of FIMA, the entity that owns Cima Universidad de Navarra, the Clinic's research center . During the years he has been at the helm of the Clínica, he has led its expansion (first with the López Pozas outpatient centre and then with the opening of the Clínica's headquarters in Madrid -November 2017-) and has driven its process of internationalizationThe Clínica has maintained its standards of care excellence and personalised medicine, with a specialised nursing team. In the last year and a half, it has also managed the Covid-19 pandemic and faced up to the challenge challenge of combining Covid activity with ordinary activity.

In recent years, moreover, the Clinic's track record has been recognised for its good reputation both nationally and internationally.

The President of the University, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, thanked "the great work carried out by José Andrés in the growth and consolidation of the Clinic's healthcare, professor and research activities. accredited specialization Today it is a larger hospital, with two sites, while its hallmarks are still alive" and he made a special mention to the leadership of the entire Management committee and the commitment of the Clinic's professionals in these years, especially marked by the hardship of the last few months.
