Biography

Josep Pou is the Cluster Director of Renewables' Integration & Microgrids at the Energy Research Institute at NTU (ERI@N). He is also co-Director of the Electrical Power Systems Integration Lab at NTU (EPSIL@N), the electrical Rolls-Royce corporate lab on NTU campus.
He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). In 1990, he joined the faculty of UPC as an Assistant Professor, where he became an Associate Professor in 1993. From February 2013 to August 2016, he was a Professor with the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
He spent two sabbatical years as a Visiting Professor at the Center for Power Electronics Systems, Virginia Tech, USA, and one year at the Australian Energy Research Institute (AERI), UNSW, Sydney.
His research interests include multilevel converters, power quality, energy storage, HVDC transmission, and renewable energy conversion and integration with the electricity grid. His most distinctive contributions are documented in over 80 journal papers, 150 conference papers and 7 patents. He is the recipient of 8 fellowship and scholarship awards, including the prestigious Endeavour Research Fellowship given by the Australian Government. He is an IEEE Fellow.
