Joshua Klayman

Biography
Booth School of Business
Joshua Klayman studies processes of judgment and decision making, with special interests in how people learn, or fail to learn, from experience and feedback. He is interested in applications of experimental research to problems in organizational change, managerial decision making, innovation, and creative problem solving. His research has been supported by several grants from the National Science Foundation, and has been published in both psychology and management journals. He has served as president of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making and is a founding partner of Humanly Possible Inc., which offers executive coaching, consulting, and management education. He has held visiting positions in the U.S. (at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business), in France (at INSEAD) and in Australia (at the University of Melbourne Business School) and was also a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Melbourne. Klayman earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and social inquiry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974. He received a PhD in cognitive and developmental psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1982.
In addition to his academic interests, Klayman enjoys travel and has visited or worked in 45 countries so far. He has studied improvisational comedy at Second City, iO Chicago, and Annoyance Theatre, and in 2019 he made his first foray into electoral politics with a run for Board of Trustees (akin to City Council) in Oak Park, IL.
