Biography
Alberta School of Business
Prior to joining Brownlee, Keegan Rutherford was a client of the firm as the Manager of Planning and Development for a thriving rural Alberta municipality. While in this role, Keegan became familiar with Brownlee as he attended various educational events (including our yearly Emerging Trends Conference) and had the opportunity to work closely with several of our firm’s municipal lawyers.
After pursuing law as a profession, Keegan joined the firm as a Summer Student in 2015. He later returned as an Articling Student in 2016 before being called to the Bar and accepting an associate position with Brownlee’s Municipal Team.
He maintains a broad municipal practice, with experience in administrative law, municipal governance and utility regulation matters. He is also well versed on planning and development issues and municipal enforcement. Given his prior experience, Keegan has a unique understanding of municipal governance and process and enjoys finding practical solutions to his clients’ complex issues
Keegan appreciates the diversity and challenges that come with a career in the field of law. “No two days are ever the same in our ever-evolving field. We are fortunate to be able to assist a broad range of clients, each with their own set of issues and obstacles,” he says.
