Biography

Dr. Mario Arlt, DPM, M.S. PMP – Group Vice President, Project Management, ABB

Mario has been appointed adjunct professor with DTU in September 2016. In this honorary role, Mario supports DTU Management Engineering in a select research projects.

Mario is an experienced project management leader who has served numerous Global 500 companies in energy, manufacturing, financial services and other industries.

Mario has been leading ABB’s Project Management efforts for the last five years. He is responsible for governance, maturity assessments and PM Learning across the corporation, leads ABB’s Project Management Council and represents ABB in the Corporate Executive Council of the Project Management Institute.

Prior to joining ABB, Mario served ESI International as a VP Client Engagements. He previously established and ran a Project Management COE at SIEMENS, providing advisory and support services for its industrial, energy and healthcare businesses and served as a Director, Strategy Planning & Implementation with SIEMENS Energy. Previously, Mario worked for Price Waterhouse Consulting and KPMG Management Consulting as a management consultant.

Mario has been a frequent conference speaker and published several practitioner and academic articles. He holds a M.S. in Economics and International Finance from Konstanz University, Germany, and a Doctorate in Project Management from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.

Mario also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Technical University of Denmark and has previously taught project management as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and an Hon. Lecturer at the School of School of Construction & Project Management at the University College London.
