Maura Moran Brain

Maura Moran Brain has been a practicing nurse practitioner at the academic teaching practice Healthcare Associates (“HCA”), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center HCA for almost 20 years. She is a certified adult and geriatric nurse practitioner. Maura received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a dual minor in Urban Studies and Nutrition at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her Master of Science and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Maura is an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston and has taught coursework at both Boston College School of Nursing and Simmons School of Nursing. She is an active member of the Mass Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Maura has published articles in peer-reviewed publications on various topics including the management of patients with diabetes and counseling patients on weight loss. She has a strong clinical interest in weight loss counseling and diabetes and is a certified diabetes educator. Maura is also interested in quality improvement, technology in healthcare, team-based care, and geriatric medicine.
