Holds a PhD in Regional and Urban Planning (in the field of Tourism) from the Higher Technical Institute, Masters in Management and Environmental Policies from the University of Aveiro and Undergraduate Degree in Tourism from the University of the Algarve, including an exchange year at the University of Wales in Cardiff. Former Director and Deputy Director of two hotels. With several years of professional experience in the tourism field, Nuno Fazenda was Expert-Coordinator at the CCDRN with responsibility for the Action Plan for Tourism in the North of Portugal, and technical coordinator of the Tourism Development Plan for the Douro Valley 2007-2013. In the past, he was also Managing Director of 3* Hotel and Sub-director of 4* Hotel. He participated in the High-Level Group of the United Nations Foundation (Washington DC) for the international project "Criteria for Sustainable Tourism", lectured as an invited professor in the Business School of George Washington University and has several communications in Portugal and abroad, namely Europe, Brazil, China, Mexico and the United States. Professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the UCP and international expert of the World Excellence for Destinations Center. Director of the Portuguese Tourism Strategy Department, responsible for the technical coordination of the national tourism strategy - Tourism Strategy 2027.
