I am a Professor in the Dept. of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay. The research interests of our group fall within the broad area of mechanics of materials. More specifically, our objective is to develop efficient and accurate computational tools to gain insight into the deformation and failure characteristics of materials - metals, metallic alloys and composites. This work finds application in wide spectrum of engineering that encompasses aerospace structure design, automobile structure design, nuclear power reactor equipment design, MEMS and NEMS technologies.

In-house development of computational tools is a feature of the research work carried out in our lab. Sustained efforts are made to frequently incoporate new physics and computational strategies to enhance the capability of the tools to meet new challenges in engineering
